AiR 2025 / Artur Magrot & Adam Trbušek

Archi-Politics of Culture: A long-term artist residency exploring the transformation of the Automatic Mills.
4–10 August 2025
The story began in 2018, when artist Artur Magrot, dancer and performer Kateřina Szymanski, and philosopher Václav Janoščík took part in what became our final artist residency in the historic Automatic Mills – just before the building’s reconstruction to house the future Gočár Gallery. The video created during that time remains one of the last visual records of the building in its original state.
In the 2024 and 2025 Offcity residencies, artists Artur Magrot and Adam Trbušek (working in extended collaboration with Václav Janoščík) have returned to this earlier project. Retracing their steps through the same spaces, they quietly and attentively document the building’s ongoing transformation – capturing not only its changing appearance, but also the evolving nature of its function and daily use.
We are delighted to announce that the resulting two-channel video installation will be featured in the Gočár Gallery’s exhibition program in 2026.
The OFFCITY AiR 2025 residency is made possible through the generous support of the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic and the Statutory City of Pardubice. We warmly thank the Gočár Gallery for their support and collaboration.
