W 35 / Walk in the Rain

Walk in the Rain is an interactive street art project by Berlin-based artist Diren Demir, creating a shared space for collaboration between artists, climate researchers, and climate activists in the public realm.

The project uses environmentally friendly paint that is activated by rain. It brings messages related to the climate crisis into the streets, inviting reflection on how the climate crisis is becoming part of our everyday lives in the city — how we perceive it, experience it, and talk about it.

These texts remain invisible in dry weather and appear only when it rains. Rain thus becomes a moment of visibility and an invitation to reflect.

Who can apply?
We warmly invite:

• artists
• muralists and graffiti artists
• climate activists
• researchers
• educators
• students
• collectives and community initiatives
• who are based in Pardubice and the surrounding area, or who actively work with the city and its public space.

What does participation involve?

Selected participants will be invited to:

• take part in a short meeting, either in person or online
• collaboratively create short slogans or messages related to climate, the city, and public space
• participate in a 2–3-minute recorded interview about their work, research, or experience in activism

Interviews
The interviews will:

• become part of an audio walk through the city
• be published as part of a separate podcast accompanying the project.

Participants will also contribute to creating a route through Pardubice. During rainy days, collective walks will take place along this route, giving the public an opportunity to encounter the artworks and take part in a shared discussion.

Your participation will be documented through:

• environmentally friendly printed leaflets marking the locations
• short texts and excerpts from interviews with participants
• public walks and an online audio publication

Timeline

• Please apply by 30 September at the latest.
• Interviews will take place 10–14 October, either in person or online.
• Meetings and recordings will be scheduled flexibly according to your availability.
