T 37 / Siedl/Cao: Sound Ride

Bike soundride

Saturday, May 2, 2026 from 3pm
Meeting point: near GAMPA at the Automatic Mills

We invite participants to join a very special group experiential bicycle ride with wind-driven flutes attached to their helmets. These flutes begin to sing as the wind passes through them. Together, we will explore and articulate public interspaces in the city through sound – perceiving the urban soundscape while creating a collective, transient harmony of wind-driven flutes.

This sound ride is a contemplation on how city planning and architecture shape our living conditions, the relationships between human beings and communities, and the connection between the human and non-human worlds.

The ride is prepared by Cao Thanh Lan and Gregor Siedl, guest artists and participants in the Offcity AiR residency program.

Participation is free, but registration is required via this simple form.

  • Please bring your own bicycle and helmet.
  • Duration: approximately 2 hours (1 hour of riding, 30 minutes for preparation before the ride, 30 minutes for removing the flutes after the ride)
  • The ride will be casual, with an average speed of around 10–15 km/h. Anyone is welcome.

About the artists:

SIEDL/CAO

Siedl/Cao – Cao Thanh Lan (she/her) from Vietnam and Gregor Siedl (he/him) from Austria—are a Vienna-based transdisciplinary artist duo who have been working together since 2013. While sound has always been at the heart of their practice, they incorporate a wide range of media into kinetic sound installations, wearable sonic sculptures, sound interventions, and contemporary music theatre, blurring the boundaries between artistic disciplines.

In their work, sound functions as a social artefact, carrying memories, associations, and expressions of cultural identity. Many of their projects are socially engaged, involving active audience participation or taking place in public spaces to invite reflection on our relationship with the natural and social environment. By questioning anthropocentric perspectives, they consciously collaborate with natural forces to shape the unfolding of their work.

Organized by Offcity z. s. – project  OFFCITY AiR 2026. We thank for the financial support to the Ministry of Culture CZ and to Statutory town Pardubice.
